WORM_MYTOB.QF - This memory-resident worm propagates
by sending a copy of itself as an attachment to email
messages, which it sends to target recipients using its own
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) engine. Thus, it is
capable of sending email messages without using mailing
applications, such as Microsoft Outlook.
P2KM_EMBED.AC
- This Trojan arrives as a file downloaded from the Internet
by an unsuspecting user when visiting malicious Web sites. It
can also arrive as a file dropped by another malware.
It is
a MS Powerpoint Presentation (.PPT) file that uses a Microsoft
vulnerability to drop and execute a backdoor, which Trend
Micro detects as BKDR_EMBED.AA. The affected system then
becomes subjected to the malicious routine of its dropped
malware.
PE_POLIP.A - This is Trend Micro's detection
of a polymorphic and memory-resident file infector propagating
via popular Gnutella-compatible peer-to-peer (P2P) networks,
such as BearShare and Gnucleus 2.0.0.6.
It infects .EXE and
.SCR files found in the Program Files and Windows system
folders, including their subfolders. It also infects the said
target files found in folders typically shared by the said P2P
applications. Moreover, it terminates certain security-related
processes if found running on the infected system. The said
routine makes malware detection
difficult.
